So the Fire just sent renewal notices and my section 8 season tickets went from $420 last season to $680 for 2024. That's a 62% jump for a team that finished 13th in the Eastern Conference.

Got me thinking — what if I skip the season tickets and put that $680 on Chicago Fire to win MLS Cup at +2800? If they somehow pull it off, I'm looking at

9,040 payout versus watching them lose 2-1 to Nashville every other week.

The math breakdown:

  • Season tickets: $680 for 17 home games = $40 per match
  • MLS Cup bet: $680 stake at +2800 odds
  • Fire's actual playoff chances: probably 15% being generous

I know it's a long shot, but this team has burned through my patience worse than the Bulls front office. At least with the bet I either get a massive payday or I'm not sitting in Soldier Field watching Shaqiri phone it in for 90 minutes.

Anyone else doing this kind of calculation with their Chicago teams? The ticket prices are getting ridiculous across the board.

Wait, you can actually bet on MLS Cup futures? I'm still figuring out sports betting basics but that seems like a really long shot. Where do you even find +2800 odds for Chicago Fire?

Also, don't you get other benefits with season tickets like parking discounts or merchandise deals? I'm genuinely asking because I've never had season tickets for anything.

I actually did something similar with the White Sox a few years back. Season tickets in the upper deck were running me about $800, so I took half that money and spread it across some ridiculous futures bets instead. Put

Just hit a decent win on NBA props last week and trying to cash out $950 from an offshore book. They're asking for driver's license, bank statement from last 30 days, and a selfie holding my ID. Submitted everything Tuesday morning but still showing "under review" 4 days later.

Is this normal timing? The site says 24-48 hours for document verification but I'm past that window. This is my first withdrawal over $500 so maybe they're being extra careful, but getting nervous about the delay.

What's been everyone's actual experience with verification times? Trying to figure out if I should be worried or just wait it out.

00 on various player props.

The Sox futures hit that year and I ended up with $900 profit, which more than covered what I would've spent on tickets. Watched most games at home or caught the big ones at sports bars. Honestly, the experience wasn't that much different, and I had extra cash for other bets throughout the season.

For Fire futures, I've been using Sportsbetting.ag because they had MLS lines posted way earlier than most books. Their +2800 on Fire MLS Cup was available back in December. Just make sure you're comfortable with potentially losing that $680 completely — MLS is unpredictable but Fire have some real roster holes to fill.

Have you factored in the physical activity aspect of attending games? I track everything and last season I averaged 8,200 steps per Fire match (parking, walking to Soldier Field, concourse trips, etc.). That's roughly 140,000 steps over 17 home games.

At my current activity level goals, those steps represent about $85 worth of gym membership equivalent exercise. Plus the social aspect — I meet up with the same group of 6 people for every match, we grab dinner beforehand, it's become part of my weekly routine structure.

The betting approach gives you the financial upside but removes the consistent physical activity and social accountability. Depends what you value more in your lifestyle optimization.

Your math is flawed. You're comparing a guaranteed entertainment product (17 games) against a 3.45% probability bet. The expected value on that MLS Cup future is negative $657, meaning you're essentially paying $657 for a lottery ticket.

Better approach: keep maybe

00 of the season ticket money for selective game attendance (4-5 matches you actually want to see), then spread the remaining
80 across multiple smaller futures with better probability. Fire to make playoffs at +180, Fire over 42.5 points at -110, stuff like that.

The season ticket price jump is definitely aggressive though. MLS attendance has been growing but 62% increase is pushing it for a rebuilding team.

Screw the season tickets, put it all on the futures bet. I've been hammering long shot MLS futures for three seasons now and even though most lose, the one that hits pays for all the misses plus profit.

Last year I had Orlando City at +3500 to win MLS Cup and they made the conference finals. Didn't hit the full ticket but I was able to hedge out for a small profit. MyBookie has been solid for these types of futures bets — they post lines early and the limits are decent for recreational players.

Fire are definitely a long shot but MLS playoffs are a crapshoot once you get in. One hot streak in October and anything can happen.

The ticket price increase is definitely steep, but I'd be careful about putting the entire amount on a single futures bet. Fire's roster construction is still questionable — they need at least two more quality signings to be competitive in the East.

If you're set on skipping season tickets, maybe consider a hybrid approach: buy individual tickets for 6-8 games you really want to attend (probably

40-300 total), then use the remaining
80-440 on a mix of futures and weekly bets throughout the season. Gives you some live game experience while still having action on the team's overall performance.

The +2800 odds aren't terrible value considering MLS parity, but it's still a significant long shot for your entire entertainment budget.

Oracle Pete's right about the roster — I caught the Fire's preseason friendly against Nashville SC last weekend and they're still running the same midfield formation that got exposed all of last season. Watched them give up three clear chances in the first 20 minutes before I switched to the slots at Rivers Des Plaines.

60 price jump is brutal though. My buddy had Fire season tickets for four years and dropped them after 2023 when they bumped his section from
80 to $515. He's been taking that money and spreading it across player props instead — made
40 profit last season just betting Fire over/under corner kicks at home games.
